![]() Remarkably quiet, the rifle and Subsonic load produced minuscule groups and quickly became a source of delight as we took turns shooting. Likewise, we attached an Aimpoint Micro for close range run-and-gun hunting on the open plains of Wyoming.Ī modern twist on a classic rifle design, we setup a target board and got zeroed with the 464 SPX at 75 yards, which made for an inch or so of drop at 100. Because of its small profile and the subsonic compatibility, we selected a SilencerCo Omega K can for the hunt. Featuring an AR-style adjustable buttstock, all black synthetic stock and Picatinny rails for accessorizing, the 464 is uniquely designed for use with a suppressor. Our rifle of choice was Mossberg’s 464 SPX with a threaded barrel, which is itself not what you’d expect from a lever gun. I joined Emery on a pronghorn hunt with Heart Spear Outfitters near Casper, Wyo., to see what all the rage was about. But once you shoot the Subsonic load you quickly realize how much fun it is.” 45-70 came about because many of the folks within our walls are huge lever gun enthusiasts,” Neal Emery, senior communications manager at Hornady, said. 30-30 offering features a 175-grain bullet with a generous hollow point cavity to allow for expansion at subsonic velocities and close ranges.Ī subsonic, suppressor-friendly offering in lever gun calibers may not be the first thing that comes to mind for many hunters, but as Hornady did with LEVERevolution, it’s bound to revolutionize the platform. The Subsonic load features Hornady’s Sub-X bullet with a lead core and flat-nosed polymer Flex Tip that prevents clogging and aids in expansion. 300 BLK loads make a ton of sense given the popularity of AR and bolt-action platforms on the market today, perhaps what’s most eye-catching are the two lever gun offerings. 300 BLK, Hornady extended its Subsonic family of ammunition for 2020 to include. The newest ammunition offering from Hornady, however, is bound to spark a resurgence in the American love affair with the lever action.Īlready available in. Because I'll be darned if I can see any reason for spire point bullets otherwise. It may have been the gun that won the West, but the lever gun hasn’t always gotten the love it deserves in a modern world dominated by semi-autos and bolt guns. ![]() I'm guessing most bullets are tail-heavy is so that they'll be more likely to tumble once they hit meat, and therefore cause more damage. Then it would maintain stability as it drops through the transonic area. Which seems to be borne out by how bullets behave downrange, and net.lore that loading bullets backwards in the Whisper sometimes works better than sending them out point first.Īn aerodynamically stabilized bullet ought to have the center of pressure behind the center of gravity - that is, like a teardrop or weathervane. When the bullet drops subsonic, the center of pressure moves even farther back, making the problem worse. ![]() So we spin the heck out of them to stabilize them while they fly through the air backwards, for all practical purposes. The typical bullet has the center of pressure (where the shock wave attaches at supersonic speed) pretty close to the center of gravity, or even behind the CG. they're contrary to what I've learned about airflow. I know most bullets have looked like that for a long time, and they definitely work, but. The popular bullets are all typical boat tail spire points. The idea is for a big bullet going just below supersonic, able to carry a lot of energy downrange at modest velocity. The cartridge was originally intended for subsonic use, though a lot of people load it supersonic.

For more information, see HTTP Live Streaming Overview. To provide multiple bandwidths, you must provide a src attribute that specifies a source capable of supporting data rate selection itself.įor example, if one of your sources is an HTTP Live Stream, the playlist file can specify multiple streams, and Safari selects the best stream for the current bandwidth dynamically as network bandwidth changes. If you supply multiple sources, the browser chooses the first it can play based on scheme, file format, profile, and codecs. HTML5 does not support selection from multiple sources based on data rate. Browsers that support neither m3u8 playlists nor RTSP URLs play the progressive download version. Safari on the desktop plays the RTSP stream, while Safari on iOS plays the HTTP Live stream. Listing 1-3 Specifying multiple audio sourcesĪgain, the browser picks the first source it can handle. Listing 1-3 is a simple example of using multiple sources for an audio file. A browser that can play neither Ogg nor AAC might still be able to play the WAVE file. A browser that cannot play AAC but can play Ogg plays the Ogg file. For example, if you have an AAC audio file, an Ogg Vorbis audio file, and a WAVE audio file, listed in that order, Safari plays the AAC file. The browser chooses the first listed source that it thinks it can play. List the alternate media sources in the order of most desirable to least desirable. Instead of using the src attribute in the media element itself, follow the or tag with one or more elements, prior to the closing tag. The browser iterates through them until it finds one it can play or runs out of sources. Fortunately, the and elements allow you to list as many elements as you like. Not all types of audio and video can play on all devices and browsers. Otherwise the user has no way to play the movie. If you do not set the controls attribute, you must either set the autoplay attribute, create a controller using JavaScript, or play the movie programmatically from JavaScript. (You cannot set the attribute to false explicitly in HTML-you set it to false implicitly by leaving the attribute out.) In cases where it is crucial that the bottom of the video never be obscured, omit the controls attribute. The controller is not normally visible when the movie is playing-it appears only when the movie is paused, when the user touches the video, or when the mouse pointer hovers over the playing movie. In Safari, the default video controller is slightly translucent and is overlaid on the bottom of the video. If neither is specified, the video is displayed at its native size. If both height and width are specified, the video is presented at that size. If only the height or width parameter is specified, the video is scaled up or down to that height or width while maintaining the native aspect ratio of the movie. In Safari on the desktop, the movie metadata is downloaded automatically whenever possible, so the native video size is used as the default. On iPhone or iPod touch, the video plays in fullscreen mode once the user initiates it, and the default space is allocated to a placeholder on the webpage. On iPad, the video currently plays in this default space. If no height or width is specified, a default size of 150 x 300 pixels is allocated in the webpage. In Safari on iOS, the native size of the video is unknown until the user initiates a download. When your plan comes together, it’s riveting stuff. Although playing out in real time (with the option to ‘pause and plan’), this is a game where you want to carefully plan your next move – making the most out of the terrain, enemy positions and possible obstructions that can create chokepoints if used well. Sudden Strike 4 isn’t a game where you rush into things, since doing so will often see you end up on the end of an ambush or stuck in a place where you don’t want to be. These aren’t the usual mission targets and sub-targets, as points are also awarded for things like carjacking an enemy vehicle. Points (and thus higher mission scores) can be achieved by winning the scenario as well as by performing specific actions during each mission. Lose your infantry, and you also lose a lot of your tank’s ability to scout the area through them.Īnother big aspect is the terrain – the weight of a tank might cause it to get stuck in places, and ice can literally break away beneath your feet when heavily bombarded. This can either give them the upper hand against the enemy’s heavy units by sneaking up on them from behind, or can cause them to become isolated and vulnerable. Certain roads might be blocked off for your tank units, but can provide a way through for your infantry. ![]() ![]() That’s not to say that there aren’t plenty of them, since Sudden Strike 4 is a challenging game in more ways than one. In other words, replayability will depend on your own ability to find different routes to success. It’s a dynamic that promotes replayability, but a solid overall tactic will likely work no matter which commander you select. One of the keys to success in this regard is your choice of a specific commander – which brings perks to your infantry, tank, or support units. These missions are laid out with specific challenges in mind, but can be tackled in a variety of ways. This is true for all three of the game’s campaigns, which cover over 20 battle scenarios divided between the German, Soviet and Allied forces. Sudden Strike 4’s brand of strategy, as was also demonstrated during that first meeting, is a generally more slower-paced one – leaning towards tactical combat more than resource management and base building. ![]() Sudden Strike coming out of retirement was more than welcome, also become none of those other series have seen a recent release.
